Steve’s signature snare has a 13”x6.5” all-maple 4-ply shell with 6-ply reinforcement hoops and 35 degree bearing edges. The extra-thin shell produces a fat, warm and attacking sound while the reinforcing hoops focus the tone. The drum also features a 20-strand high-carbon steel snare, with un-plated wires to produce a more natural sound. Triple flange hoops in 1.6mm steel have special chrome plating as do the eight separate minimum–contact lugs per head. Chosen for its excellent functionality, our H-type strainer is used on the release side, while the more standard B-type is used on the butt side. This offers the least strainer-to-shell contact and minimises any dampening effect on the shell.
