Serge Plume was born in Renaix (Ronse), Belgium in september 1967.

He studied classical trumpet at the Royal Music Conservatory in Ghent and graduated in '90 at the jazz-department of the Conservatory in Hilversum (with Ack Van Rooyen).

At the age of eighteen, he started playing with the BRT-Jazz Orchestra & BRT-Big Band (Belgian Radio & Television), the Act Big Band (dir. Michel Herr) and a lot af small jazz-groups. He also participated to several "music-theatre"-productions created by a.o. NTG (Ghent), Théâtre Royal du Parc (Brussels)..

He worked with a lot of (radio) Big Bands such as: WDR (Koln), HR (Frankfurt), SWR (Stuttgart), The Skymasters (Hilversum), the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), RTL Big Band (Cologne), the Timeless Jazz Orchestra (Hilversum), l'Orchestre Régional de Jazz  (Lille), Caratini Jazz Ensemble (Paris) and El Tattoo del Tigre (Antwerp).

He worked for more than four years with the legendary Swiss bandleader Hazy Osterwald and two years with the "Orchestre National de Jazz" in Paris.

He toured several times in Japan and the East-coast of the US and appeared at the most worldfamous international Jazz-Festivals.

Between 1998 and 2002 he played lead-trumpet  with “The Night of the Proms”.

He was professor at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and Antwerp (‘91-’97) and at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven (‘01-’03).

He also performed at "International Association of Jazz Educators"-Conferences in New Orleans and New York City and the "International Trumpet Guild"-Conference in Santa Barbara (California).

He is co-founder and lead-trumpetplayer of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra

(productions with a.o. Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Werner, Dave Liebman, Phil Woods, Kenny Wheeler, McCoy Tyner, Tom Harrell, Wallace Roney, Bert Joris, Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, David Linx,...).

He is a member of the Edwin Evers Band, the "Corkest" (Cor Bakker Orchestra) and the bands of singers Paul de Leeuw, Marco Borsato and Clouseau.

He is one of the most sought after studio-performers in Holland and Belgium as a member of the Jay Horns. He recorded and/or toured with a lot of (inter)national pop-stars such as: Marco Borsato, Clouseau, Maurane, Khadja Nin, Raymond van het Groenewoud (a.o. soundtrack for the Academy Award-nominated Dominique Deruddere-movie “Iedereen Beroemd!”), Rob de Nijs, Paul de Leeuw, Jo Lemaire, Belle Perez, Boudewijn de Groot, Will Tura, Paul Young, Volumia!, Paul Michiels, René Froger, Johan Verminnen, Salvatore Adamo, Bart Peeters, Ramses Shaffy, Laura Fygi, George Baker, Lee Towers, Khaled, Florent Pagny, Axelle Red, Renaud, Lara Fabian and many others!

He participated to hundreds of radio- and tv-shows (such as: "De Schreeuw van de Leeuw", "Het Huis van Oranje", "Laat de leeuw" & “Mooi! Weer de Leeuw” (Paul de Leeuw-VARA), "Ivo Niehe TV-Show" (TROS), "Lalala-Live" (Bart Peeters-AVRO), "Bij Van Duin" (Andre Van Duin-RTL4), “Idols” & “X-Factor” (RTL4), "Kinderen voor Kinderen" (VARA), "Telekids" & "Monte Carlo" (Carlo Boszhart-RTL4), "Het Gevoel Van..." (Veronica), "Music  Minded" & "Cor & Co" (Cor Bakker-TROS), "'t Dak d'eraf" (Eric Corton-RTL4), “Just the Two of Us” (Talpa), "RTL Samstagnacht-Show (Cologne), "Het Swingpaleis", "Biebabeloela", "De Laatste Show", “Zo is er maar één”, “Vox Pop”, “SterActeur SterArtiest” (VRT), “Sterren op de Dansvloer” (VTM)), working with international artists such as: Al Jarreau, Michel Legrand, Quincy Jones, Catarina Valente, Toots Thielemans, Georgie Fame, Candy Dulfer, Sacha Distel, Oleta Adams, James Morisson(voc), Serge Lama, Patrick Bruel, Gilbert Bécaud, Lisa Stansfield, Janis Ian, Maceo Parker, Michael McDonald, Joe Cocker, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Boyzone, Tony Hadley, Chrissie Hynde, Johnny Logan, Debbie Harry, Cliff Richard, Shirley Bassey, Gary Brooker, Wet Wet Wet, Kid Creole, Paul Carrack, Lionel Richie, Zucchero, Riccardo Cocciante, Demis Roussos, Chris de Burgh, Michael Bublé, Jools Holland, The Simple Minds, Leo Sayer and many others.
