Please install your newest CubaseAI/Cubase Studio 4/Cubase 4 version first.
Do not connect your device to the computer yet!
Download the actual drivers for the n-series in the download section of www.yamahasynth.com. On the same page you can download the templates for Cubase, called “DAW Extensions”.
Start the installation of the drivers after unzipping the downloaded files. During installation you will be asked to restart the computer. After the restart you can connect the device using the Firewire cable.
Follow the on-screen instructions. Audio and MIDI drivers will be installed. You will find a blue icon in the taskbar after the installation. Here you have the options to reset the driver (if needed), control the status of the driver or change the sample rate. You can choose any samplerate from 44.1 up to 96 kHz.
Installation on Mac OS X is very similar to the PC installation. The driver icon can be found top right of your desktop. You can turn the driver on or off and also change the sample rate.
Now you can install the “DAW Extensions”.
When starting Cubase the first time you will be asked wether you want to use the mLAN ASIO drivers. Click on “OK”.
Then you can choose to use the n8/n12 multichannel recording template - if you want to record multiple tracks simultaneously – or the n8/n12 stereo recording – if you want to record different channels of the n desk onto one track. Using the “rec” buttons of your n desk you then can decide, which tracks you want to record.
Drivers, remote and all the routing is already set. Channel 1 goes to track 1 of Cubase, channel 2 to track 2 and so on. You can start to record your next project right away!
