1.Download the latest drivers with the Download Wizard in the driver menu of the website www.mlancentral.com

2.Disconnect the 01x of the computer or power it off before starting the installation

3.Go to the control panel and open the system menu. Choose “Hardware“, then „driver signing“. Choose “ignore“in the upcoming window. This blocks the operating system to ask for approval and speeds up the installation

4.Open the downloaded driver folder. You will find an installation guide in the subfolder “for_01x_user“. You also will find (depending on the driver version) the subfolders “mLAN_updater” and “01X_v103_updater”. In both folders you will find installation guides for both programs. Please read these installation guides carefully.

-In the subfolder “mLAN_updater” you will find a program called “mLAN_Updater_for_01X.exe”. This program updates the mLAN firmware to the newest version. After starting the software with the 01x connected the current firmware is checked. If this is not the latest version, you will have to update by clicking on the “Update” button.

-In the folder “01X_v103_updater” you will find the program “01XUpgrade.exe”. This updates the firmware of the 01x. The current firmware version of the 01x has to be checked first. Hold the “Utility” button of the 01x when turning it on, the current firmware version is shown in the display. The firmware has to be updated If the current version is not 1.03 or higher. Therefore the 01x has to be turned off and on again, this time the keys “Remote” and “Selected Channel” have to be pressed when turning the 01x on. Choose mLAN as MIDI Port and start the update by clicking “Start” in the updater software.

5.The driver can be found in the “mLAN_“ –subfolder. Please open this folder and double click on “Setup“ to start the installation

6.Confirm the upcoming windows by clicking on “OK“ or “Next “. A few installation windows will come up. Please ensure that the installation is complete and no window is left out, and then click on “finish”. Now the computer will be restarted.

7.Connect the 01x to the computer after the restart. Activate the mLAN driver by clicking on the blue mLAN Manager icon in the taskbar with the right mouse button and then clicking on “On“with the left mouse button. Now additional 01x drivers will be installed. Again confirm the upcoming windows by clicking on “next“ and then “finish”.

8.Click on “OK“ at the end and choose the “Auto Connector“ in the mLAN Manager menu. In the Auto Connector you can set the Sample rate and the number of inputs and outputs according to your needs. If you want to hear the Windows sounds via the analogue or digital outputs, you have to click on the ASIO/WDM field. The ASIO drivers are needed for professional programs like Cubase or Logic. In the mLAN manager menu „Driver Setup“ you can increase/decrease the buffer size, to get the best performance for your system.

9.Press Utility >> Wordclock on the 01x and enable “mLAN Auto Slave”. Press Utility >> Remote to set the DAW you want to work with.

10.Click on „Connect“ to set up the connection to the 01x and start your audio recording program.

In Cubase/Nuendo the drivers are set in the „VST Multitrack“ menu of the device setup. Choose "mLAN ASIO“ as ASIO driver.

In Logic the drivers are set in the Audio >> Audio Hardware & Drivers menu. On the file card „Audio Driver 2“you have to choose ASIO and then “ASIO Driver for mLAN“. Then restart Logic.

11.There should be a signal on the Monitor Outs when starting playback in the audio software, as soon as the master fader, the faders 9/10 and the monitor/phones knob of the 01x are turned up. It is also possible to choose other outputs in your audio software.

12.Now only the remote functions have to be set up in your DAW:

- Logic normally sets up the 01x automatically as a Logic Control as soon as it is attached and the mLAN drivers are running. You will find the remote settings under Options >> Preferences >> Control Surfaces >> Setup. The MIDI Ports have to be set to mLAN MIDI In and mLAN MIDI Out (the first MIDI port). If you do not find the Logic Control you will have to scan for it (choose scan instead of setup).

- In Cubase/Nuendo select Devices >> Device Setup, then Add/Remove. Choose the Yamaha 01x or the Mackie Control and click on “add”. Now select on the left side the 01x or the Mackie Control and change the right side to “Setup”. Select mLAN MIDI In as MIDI In port and mLAN MIDI Out as MIDI Out port. Click on “Direct Music” after that and set the following MIDI ports in the “show”-column to “No”: mLAN MIDI In and Out 1 and 4-5. Sometimes it can take a little bit of time that the computer reacts to the new setting.
