Yamaha, as the biggest music Instruments Company worldwide, and Steinberg, the well-known software company, joined forces to establish the Studio Connections initiative. The idea behind the studio connections is to integrate the world of hardware into the world of software – combining the best of both worlds.
The integration of external hardware such as a compressor or a synthesizer with a software digital audio workstation has always been a very complicated process.
This is where the Studio Connections come in. With Total Recall and Audio Integration, studio work becomes faster and easier. With Total Recall you can synchronize Yamaha hardware with Steinberg software like Cubase. You just have to save your Cubase project and your hardware settings get saved with it. The next time you recall the project all the settings saved in the project will be automatically loaded into the hardware devices.
With Audio Integration external effects and synthesizers can be integrated directly into the recording software. This way a MOTIF ES can be used inside Cubase or Nuendo just like a VST Instrument, with the sound still coming out of the synthesizer.
More news is going to come...
The Studio Connections Initiative is not a new technology but a development project with the goal to fully integrate studio components into one complete integrative system in several steps.
The developments of the Studio Connections are also available to other companies - just like mLAN (Yamaha) and VST (Steinberg) it is an open platform. It would also be possible to integrate other digital desks into Cubase or Yamaha products into other software programs like Apple´s Logic Pro. There is also a software development kit (SDK) for interested developers.
