JOHAN RANDÉN

Biography:

Born in Sweden in 1988, Johan started playing guitar at the tender age of 9.

He made his first public appearance at Sweden Rock Festival at the  age of 11, playing with swedish power rock trio-combo Freak Kitchen.

At age 11 Johan also made a stunning appearance performing Frank Zappas polyrythmic nightmare ”Black Page”.

Only 12 years old Johan began recording his debut album with mentor/good friend/guitarhero Mattias ”Ia” Eklundh, guitar player and lead singer with Freak Kitchen and (Favored Nations) solo artist.

His debut album ”Johan: Lead Guitar” was released worldwide in the spring of 2001.

Statement from record company TSP (2001):

We are proud to release 13 year old Johan Randen's  debut album "Freak Guitar", produced and written by  his mentor and good friend : Mattias "IA" Eklundh".  Here a statement from Mattias : "I first met Johan in 1999, he was eleven then  and came to me for lessons. When the young man picked up the guitar and began playing his brains out I  truly questioned my sanity as I had a hard time  believing what I saw and heard. I was completely  floored. Johan does not only have an incredible  technique, he has the phrasings, tone, attitude and soul  of a seriously experienced musician. I believe that's  what makes him so special."

So far the album has received great reviews in Scandinavia, USA, Russia, Japan amongst other countries. Johan is currently working, once again with Mattias ”Ia” Eklundh, on the follow-up to his successful debut. Look for a late 2003/early 2004 release!

Spring 2003 saw Johan visiting Japan for a very successful clinic/promotional tour including TV interviews and a DVD recording for Japanese guitar magazine ”Young Guitar”.

Much appreciated by his Japanese fans.

And ooh… Johan isn´t playing guitar, he´s performing stunts on it!

YAMAHA equipment: 2 custom colored Yamaha RGX420S guitars in Flat Silver and Flat Blue,

RGX Ty Tabor signature model, Yamaha DG series amps, Yamaha FPX300N acoustic.
