The idea for the Groove Wedge came about because Russ Miller preferred to use smaller 12” and 13” snare drums in the studio, but because they were small he couldn´t get to the ‘sweet spot´ on the stick for a good cross-stick sound. The solution was to bolt a section of our Vintage Maple wood hoop onto the tuning bolts of any drum with metal rims and play the cross stick on this ‘wedge´.
In fact the Groove Wedge can be mounted on any drum from 8” to 15” diameter and as an added bonus this means you can get the warm and woody vintage cross-stick sound on a 14” or 15” snare drum fitted with metal rims.
The Cascara Wedge is a deeper version of the Groove Wedge which allows you to play ‘cascara´ type Latin patterns on your kit. The Cascara Wedge can be attached to drums from 10” to 18” diameter.
The Jingle Wedge and Cascara Jingle Wedge are variations on the two original Wedges with added tambourine jingles, offering a variety of percussive timbres.
