Bass drums are 7-ply and 7.7 mm thick, while rack toms, floor toms and snare drums are 6-ply and 6 mm thick. All the bass drums are 17” deep and are available in 20”, 22” and 24” diameters with Remo PowerStrokeP3 batter heads, while the 18” deep bass drum has a Remo Coated Ambassador batter. The 18” bass drum is also fitted with our new Floating System which ensures the bass drum beater strikes the centre of the head.
Another special feature of the Oak Custom line is the ‘universal’ dimension tom-toms which lie between traditional ‘jazz’ and ‘power’ sizes. These particular dimensions have been found to result in improved sound projection. The range is made even more versatile by the specially extended choice of floor toms in 13”, 14”, 15”, 16” and 18” diameters. The toms of course feature our acclaimed YESS suspension mounting system which maximises projection and resonance.
The Oak Custom has its own unique look with newly designed, small rounded lug casings. These attach to the shell with a single bolt, which further allows the drums to resonate freely and deliver an open sound. Finally, special mention must be made of the exquisite finishes. This is our first ever oak kit and the all-new finishes have been developed to take full advantage of this beautiful traditional hard wood. You can choose from no less than four matte and three gloss finishes which are all designed to enhance the oak’s luxurious grain.
