Direct pickup from the sound hole

Indirect pickup from the head

Russ Miller's idea put into reality. Large diameter diaphragm captures bass drum sub-frequencies.

Dynamic Microphone specially designed for capturing sub-frequencies
The SUBKICK consists of a 10" x 5" birch and Philippine mahogany 7-ply shell that houses a 16cm, 50-watt low-frequency driver cone that acts as a diaphragm for this sub-frequency capture device. While its large diameter enables the SUBKICK to capture the natural low frequencies produced by the bass drum it can be used in tandem with a standard kick mic setup, to deliver an extremely powerful bass drum tone. The SUBKICK also works effectively with a floor tom, bass guitar, low brass, etc.

Variation in placement provides a wide range of sound possibilities
Placement and proximity have an effect on the sound captured by the SUBKICK system, so experimentation with these variables will lead to a variety of tonal possibilities. Placing the SUBKICK in front of the head hole, or at varying distances from the head itself will produce variations in sound quality, volume, etc. It also offers great potential in both live performance and recording.

Specially designed stand offer versatile placement and setup
The specially designed stand utilizes a ball clamp for free and easy adjustment of the mic angle. The three legged stand and tom clamp provide excellent stability and durability.
