Coming to public attention with Angelou in the late 1990s, Norfolk based singer-songwriter Holly Lerski’s music has received widespread critical acclaim and has been described as ‘quintessentially English’ by Vogue.
Biography:
Holly’s debut EP ‘Hallelujah’, recorded late in 1996 ended the year on novelist Nick Hornby’s ‘Best of 97’ compilation. Followed by ‘Automiracles’ in 1998 and ‘While You Were Sleeping’ in 2000, Angelou’s music has been described as ‘achingly lovely’ by Mojo and ‘a hidden treasure’ by The Times.
Signed to Sanctuary Records in 2002, Holly’s most recent release ‘Life is Beautiful’ was self-produced and recorded with the help of Doves keyboard player Martin Rebelski and his flat mate James Doviak, rhythm guitarist with Johnny Marr’s Healers. The first single from the album made the BBC Radio 2 playlist and has stuck there ever since. A Janice Long session, tours with Josh Rouse and Jason Mraz, the headline ‘Life is Beautiful’ tour and news that Holly’s music was making waves in Hollywood ensured that 2003 ended on a high.
2004 sees a new record, a new film and no doubt more adventures for Norfolk’s finest.
