OCTAVES YMS SUMMER CONCERT

On Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd June, Octaves Yamaha Music School in Walsall presented their annual summer concerts at The Stadium Suite at Walsall Football Club.

Both evenings saw a variety of ensemble performances from guitar and keyboard students taking weekly lessons at the school. The audience was entertained with music including the Theme from 'Pirates of the Caribbean', a string quartet arrangement of Diana Ross’s 'I’m Still Waiting' and an outstanding performance of Orson’s 'No Tomorrow'. One of the highlights of the first evening was the combined guitar and keyboard ensemble, featuring one of our students on vocals – Georgina Lloyd. Georgina has been a keyboard student at Octaves for seven years but this was the first time she has appeared on stage to sing. And it will be the first of many to come!
The teachers also took part, performing Stevie Wonder’s 'Superstition' with the help of Dominic Lawson' who appeared on 'Stars in their Eyes' earlier this year and was previously a student at Octaves. Each evening saw an audience of nearly 300 and gave students a fantastic experience of performing live. A Christmas concert is also scheduled to take place in early December.
